I’m so used to Nick 13 being on the right side of the stage stage left) so in Tulsa I was thrown of when I went there for a spot and he was in the center – turns out they couldn’t put things where they wanted so they had to go with the vocal setup Moz wanted & put Nick in the center so for the 2nd show I was prepared!
Tiger Army sounded better in OKC, Nick didn’t seem quite so nervous & they got a really good reception! Their set list:
Ghost Tigers Rise
Through the Darkness
Rose of the Devil's Garden
Cupid's Victim (dedicated to Morrissey!)
20 Flight Rock
Santa Carla Twilight
Valley of Dreams
Then after about a 40 minute wait, it was time for Morrissey! Same songs as the night before but the order was a little different:
First Of The Gang To Die
You Have Killed Me
The Youngest Was The Most Loved
Reader Meet Author
I Have Forgiven Jesus
I Will See You In Far-off Places
My Life Is A Succession Of People Saying Goodbye
Girlfriend In A Coma
Let Me Kiss You
Life Is A Pigsty
Trouble Loves Me
How Soon Is Now?
At Last I Am Born
I Just Want To See The Boy Happy
Irish Blood, English Heart
Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before
Morrissey came out with some wonderful one liners during the show like:
"Ringleader of the Tormentors is the name of our new album. Which will be buyable within two weeks or so. Or not. Walgreens' has ordered 4 copies..... this is the big one!"
"This song was written by Hank Snow." (I Have Forgiven Jesus begins)
"I wrote this song when I was 3, and it's called, 'Life is a Pigsty'."
(Introduces the band and gets to himself) "And I'm Bob Hope”
Being front & center was like being at ground zero, it got pretty insane, a huge mohawked guy pushed his way up to my left & was doing his best to get Morrissey’s attention screaming “Morrissey I want to make you breakfast” & “will you marry me?”. He launched himself at the stage & frankly all of us around him were glad to push him to get him out of there & security whisked him off. Moz threw his shirt into the crowd & they went INSANE & all surged towards it, some left the rail & I was thrown forward on the rail front & center for the remainder f the set – SWEEET! One of the gals I’d driven with (Math Tinder) jumped over the rail & Moz pulled her up on stage & she knelt before him & kissed his hand while another guy jumped onstage & grabbed Morrissey’s leg – it was pretty damn insane! My advice, if he throws something off the stage get the fuck outta the way!!!
Afterwards I caught my breath & found the TA guys to say goodbye, gave Nick & Jeff hugs and then headed out to the lobby where the merch booth was & said goodbye to James and Alfred and Mike. Gonna miss those guys, wished them best of luck on the UK tour!!!
Then hung out much of the night with my new friends & took over the corner of an Ihop…lots of great conversation, I will definitely keep in touch!!!
